An interesting cow, referred to as the "Elf Moose" which
has been observed around the Beaver Brook Road (T14R5) for the last two
years was harvested this past week by
Traci Bushey, Ashland
IFW Headquarters Warden Service Radio Operator. A real oddity
as observed in the attached picture is the excessive growth of the hooves.
This cow had rear hooves over 15 inches long that curled upward.
The animal did seem a bit skinny, perhaps due to reduced
mobility from the hooves, but there was no problem with the meat

Dana Direnzo
850 pound 19 point bull w/ 56" spread
We were first time moose hunters...not by choice, by the luck of the
draw. I decided to let my dad shoot first since he may never get
another chance to hunt moose, and I would shoot second. Along with
shooting first came the responsibility of getting one under our belts,
so he shot the first bull that we saw, which unfortunately was a small
bull (good eater), and let it be noted that he made an unreal shot...150
yards with a .450 marlin with open sights...one shot = dead! I passed
up a bull about the size of my dads but with a bigger rack, then we saw
"the one"
